The subject of this bachelor thesis is the design of a low-rise apartment building in the settlement of Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou. The site in question is located on Nerudova Street in the southeastern part of the town. This part of the town consists exclusively of residential buildings, but it is within walking distance of the town centre, where most of the town's public amenities are located. The Jevišovka River flows south of the construction site, and there are also two reservoirs in the nearby area. The design of the apartment building includes parking spaces (designed as part of an architectural study at the BGA036 studio – Architectural Design Studio 5; the bachelor thesis focuses on the apartment building). The building has four above-ground floors and one underground floor. The basement contains storage rooms for individual apartments, a cleaning room, a laundry room with a drying room, a bicycle storage room, a baby carriage storage room, and technical rooms where the main technical equipment of the building will be located. The first above-ground floor has four 2+KK apartment units, and this layout is repeated on the upper floors. The first above-ground floor also has an entrance hall, where mailboxes for the individual apartment units will later be installed. The building is based on simple principles such as subtraction and addition. It consists of three connected cuboids of equal height, which give the building its structure. The two outer cuboids are larger in volume and therefore more dominant and contain the building's residential spaces. The middle cuboid is thin and appears submissive in contrast. It contains the building's communication core, including the elevator. The first floor is highlighted by a protruding wood-plastic cladding, which adds a connection to nature and at the same time distinguishes the first above-ground floor from the rest of the building. The balconies on the building alternate depending on the floor on which they are located. On the odd floors, the balconies face north-south, while on the even floors, they face east-west. The top of the building is designed with extensive vegetation to create a flat roof garden. The aim of the design was to create pleasant and functional living space in accordance with the client's specifications and requirements.
