The point of this work was to elaborate project documentation for a building permit in part B (DSP) and construction documentation (DPS) based on architectural studies, which was developed in the subject BGA032 – Monument restoration studio. The theme of this project was to create architectural study on historic restoration, including a proposal for a new use of the chateau in Velké Němčice. The aim was to design an appropriate concept for a new functional use of the historic building, with respect to its character and values. Part of the assignment was the development of a new urban design solution for the surroundings of the chateau. The main idea of the bachelor’s thesis was to combine two functions of the building: administrative and socio-cultural. The aim was to design the restoration in such a way that it functions efficiently, with all spaces logically connected and mutually complementary. The design of the chateau is conceived to restore its historical appearance corresponding to its representative function. The objective is to remove inappropriate interventions from the past while preserving as much of the original historically valuable structures as possible. Vertical communication is resolved within a new extension to avoid interference with the historic structures. The facade design is based on a preserved historical photograph that indicates a likely Baroque appearance of the facade, which the proposal sensitively interprets and integrates into a contemporary context. The chateau in Velké Němčice consists of two ground floors, an attic, and one underground floor. The underground level is intended to be used as a wine cellar, with its entrance located on the western side of the building. The main entrance to the building is situated on the eastern side. The first ground floor accommodates a community center, exhibition space, café with its own sanitary facilities, and additional sanitary facilities for the entire floor and the public. The second ground floor is designated for the municipal authority and a ceremonial room, with sanitary facilities provided for the whole floor. The attic contains technical rooms intended for air-handling units.
