This doctoral thesis deals with the design and control of a rotary peristaltic pump intended for biomedical application, such as Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) or phantom organ studies. The primary objective of the work is the development of a complex mechatronic system capable of generating arbitrary, user-defined pressure profiles at the pump outlet. To achieve this goal, a dynamic mathematical model based on the electro-hydraulic analogy and a modified two-element Windkessel model was developed. Based on this model, a hybrid control algorithm was designed, combining low-level real-time control with high-level optimization of control variables during one period. The thesis includes the construction of a peristaltic pump prototype that enables occlusion (tube compression) control during operation using actuators integrated into the rotor head. Experimental validation confirmed that the proposed system can track reference physiological waveforms with high precision and adapt to changes in the parameters of the connected hydraulic periphery.
