Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the creation of project documentation for a building permit and changes in the use of the historic castle in Velké Němčice, which is listed as a historic monument. The original Gothic fortress underwent several phases of change from Renaissance, Baroque, and Classicist to its modern 20th-century form, when the building served as a school. It is currently in poor technical condition and therefore unused.

The proposed architectural design of the castle building fully respects its historical value and seeks to remove inappropriate alternations made over the years. The revitalization of the building will take place with the aim of placing the town hall, a ceremonial hall, and community center spaces, including halls, a café, and exhibition areas, in the building. This will be done in a way that takes into account the investor's requirements, with regard   to the rules of heritage conservation.

The most significant proposed change will be to the exterior of the castle, which will be restored to its partial 18th-century appearance. The design also includes the addition of a glass extension with a passenger elevator to provide vertical connection between floors, so that the building can also be used by people with limited mobility and orientation. The interiors will undergo structural modifications, such as the replacement of floor and ceiling structures and the addition of door fillings. The structural modifications will ensure that the technical condition of the building is suitable for its adaptation to new functional uses in the form of the above-mentioned purposes. This will bring the castle back to life and make it one of the centers of cultural life in this area.
