Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis was to prepare project documentation for a building permit and documentation for the construction in connection with an architectural study prepared as part of the course BGA032 – Monument Restoration Studio. The subject of the studio work was the restoration of the castle in Velké Němčice, located in the central part of the village called "Městečko." Currently, the building is in very poor technical condition and is not used in any way.

The castle restoration design is based primarily on the results of analyses carried out on the basis of information obtained during a workshop held directly in the building. Other decisive factors in the design were the investor's requirements, the spatial possibilities of the building itself and its surroundings, and the needs of the village residents. The main objective of the design is to preserve valuable historical elements, remove inappropriate interventions, and add contemporary architectural elements to the building to enable its adaptation to modern use. The proposed solutions create a cultural center for the village, which will offer space for daily meetings of residents, the functioning of the town hall, and additional facilities for outdoor events on the premises. The design includes a modern extension, which primarily provides a communication link between the two above-ground floors. Another striking contemporary element is the entrance portal at the main entrance to the building.

The bachelor thesis also focuses on the urban context of the area, with which the castle is closely connected. The aim is to create a harmonious environment with diverse uses and high-quality public spaces that will emphasize the importance and function of this place while ensuring its long-term functionality and sustainability.
