The objective of this bachelor’s thesis was to develop documentation for a building permit and sections of the construction documentation, based on an architectural study prepared within the course BGA036 – Studio of Monument Restoration. The theme of the studio project was the restoration of the originally Functionalist Wittal Villa into a headquarters for the Jewish cultural association ŠTETL, serving both civic and administrative functions.
The villa will primarily house exhibition spaces located on the ground floor (1st NP). The lower level of the building will accommodate facilities for a café and seating areas, as well as a library and an archive with offices for the association. The building is also designed to host workshops and lectures, primarily on the first floor (2nd NP). For culinary workshops, training kitchens are situated in the former garage, offering direct access to the courtyard in front of the main entrance.
A synthetic approach was adopted for the restoration of the building. I examine the quality and preservation of individual historical layers. In cases where a layer has not been preserved but possessed significant qualities, it is represented in a way that evokes its original character.
