This master's thesis focuses on the analysis of the stress-strain response of the joint between the seat cushion and the backrest of a front automotive seat under rear-impact loading. Particular attention is paid to the bolted joint between the recliner bracket and the seat frame, where local failure was observed during physical testing and could not be adequately captured by the original computational model. The main objective of the thesis is to develop a modified computational model that enables a more detailed investigation of the failure mechanism and an assessment of the influence of the selected modeling approach on the response of the evaluated joint. The work includes a sensitivity study of the GISSMO damage model with respect to the discretization model of the recliner bracket, an analysis of the influence of the inverse forming procedure on the initial stress-strain state, and a comparison of the modified variant with the reference computational model. The thesis also includes a component test of the critical joint, in which selected modeling techniques of the bolted joint are compared. Based on the obtained results, the influence of the selected modeling approach on the local joint response, the force development in the bolted joint, the initiation of recliner bracket failure, and the overall response of seat structure is assessed.
