The main objective of this master’s thesis is the elaboration of a sports hall project at the level of documentation for building permit and construction execution in accordance with the valid legislation of the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to design the spatial layout of the sports hall, to select an appropriate structural system and load-bearing structure based on the applied materials and structural elements, and to resolve the integration of the building into the terrain with respect to the surrounding development and urban context.
The main sources for the preparation of the thesis were spatial planning documents of the town of Městec Králové, cadastral maps, available geological data, and valid technical standards. The proposed building is located on a plot designated for sports use within the buildable area of the town. The sports hall is designed as a two-storey, non-basement building, whose primary function is a sports area with spectator stands, complemented by operational and sanitary facilities, changing rooms, technical rooms, and auxiliary spaces.
The structural system of the building is designed as a prefabricated reinforced concrete frame combined with steel truss girders above the main hall. The external envelope of the main hall consists of sandwich panels, while the lowered part of the building is constructed of ceramic masonry units with external thermal insulation and is covered by a flat extensive green roof. The design also includes the building services systems, in particular heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic hot water preparation using an air-to-water heat pump and an air handling unit. The documentation also includes a building physics assessment of the structure.
