This Master’s thesis presents the design of a new library in Valašské Meziříčí. It consists of three parts. The first focuses on the architectural and structural design, physical assessment and the energy performance certificate. The second deals with building services, and the third describes sanitary installations and a rainwater harvesting system. The library is a two-storey public building with an L-shaped floor plan and strip foundations. The load-bearing structure is made of ceramic blocks, and the building has a flat roof. The ground floor includes a reception with a cloakroom, a computer room, a utility room, children’s and adults’ sections, staff facilities, a book repair room, and sanitary facilities. The first floor contains two club rooms, two multifunctional rooms, kitchenettes, a terrace, sanitary facilities, and the office. Building services include a heat recovery unit in the utility room and heating provided by two air-to-water heat pumps with underfloor heating. Water is supplied from the public main, and domestic hot water is produced by a hot water cylinder. Electricity comes from photovoltaic panels and the public grid. The specialized part focuses on sanitary systems and includes preparation of drawing documentation. These drawings cover the sewer system and water supply system. It includes calculations and dimensioning. The work also deals with the use of rainwater and its possible implementation in this project. The theoretical part explains basic terms, the hydrological cycle, rainwater quality and the legislations in the Czech Republic and the EU. It also describes why rainwater use is important for sustainable living. The thesis describes different ways rainwater can be collected and used. The technical section explains methods of collection, filtration, storage, and distribution. I also includes environmental and economic aspects – saving drinking water, avoiding overuse of natural water, and investment costs. The practical part analyses the library’s water consumption and compares investment costs and return on investment.

Studentka nejprve představila svou práci formou prezentace v PowerPointu, kde popsala Zdravotně technické instalace v energeticky úsporné knihovně. Vyjádřila se k připomínkám oponenta a odpovídala na připomínky členů komise. 1. Proč má objekt dvoje schodiště? Nebylo by možné řešit oddělení provozů jiným způsobem? 2. 6. Řešení dispozice dětského koutku v knihovně. 7. Výtakové šachty a jejich umístění. 8. Umístění topného kabelu na potrubí vody. 9. Jak je umístěna fotovoltaika na střeše? Na všechny otázky komise odpověděla studentka výborně a prokázala vysokou úroveň vědomostí ze studovaného oboru.
