This master’s thesis deals with the issue of responsible public procurement of construction works in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the extent to which the principles of socially responsible, environmentally responsible and innovative procurement are applied in public procurement practice in accordance with current legislation and strategic documents. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts of public procurement, describes the historical development of the legal framework, and explains key aspects of sustainability, ESG criteria and responsible public procurement. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of a selected sample of public construction contracts, examining specific data and tools related to responsible procurement. The thesis also includes a case study that identifies and evaluates specific examples of good practice in environmental, social, local, innovative and governance-related aspects of procurement. The results of the thesis highlight the growing importance of responsible procurement in public contracts, while also identifying opportunities for its more systematic and consistent application in practice.
