Gearboxes are a common part of machinery. Belt conveyors are no exception. The higher power transmission requirements in the mining industry are directly related to the choice of drive, which consists of motor and transmission. This final thesis deals with the design of a gearbox for a belt conveyor in the mining industry. It presents the general concept of gearing mechanisms and gradually specifies the issue towards a suitable application considering the location of the drive station and the type of gearboxes used in belt conveyors. It then discusses the chosen type: the helical bevel gear reducer. By means of a strength calculation of the components and the selection of a suitable concept, a possible conceptual design of a threestage bevel gear reducer is presented. The commonly used standards concerning gearboxes ISO 6336:2019 and ISO 10300:2023 are taken into account in the development of the work. Furthermore, the information is supported by results from other software programs. This approach provides a reference model for designers and contributes to the standardization of design procedures in the industry.
