This bachelor thesis focuses on the comparison of two 3D scanning technologies for the digitization of optically problematic surfaces. Specifically, a laser scanner and a scanner using structured light projection were analyzed. The aim was to quantitatively evaluate the effect of these surfaces on the quality and quantity of scan data, as well as to assess the effectiveness of the use of matting injections. Measurements were performed under standardized conditions with emphasis on repeatability and accuracy. Model coverage and dimensional variations were evaluated in comparison to a reference scan. The results show that the laser scanner exhibits greater flexibility and the ability to scan without the use of a matte layer, especially for glossy and dark surfaces. In contrast, structured light technology achieves higher accuracy especially under ideal conditions and when a matting coating is applied. The paper concludes that the choice of the appropriate scanning technology and the decision to use matting agents fundamentally affect the quality of the resulting 3D model when scanning optically challenging objects.
