The basic characteristics and structures of CATV. Signal distortions in CATV. Metallic lines used in CATV. Passive and active partial functional blocks CATV. Conception of the small,middle and large CATV. Design of CATV (frequency allocation plans, energetic balance, signal-to-noise ratio). Application of the optical-fibre cables in CATV. Multifunctional cable distribution networks. Systems MMDS and MVDS for TV and radio signal distribution. Cable distribution of digital TV signals. European standard DVB-C.

2.Signal distortions in CATV, signal-to-noise ratio.
3.Metallic lines used in CATV - types, properties.
4.Passive components of CATV - directional couplers, customer sockets, multiplexers, attenuators, filters, etc. (types, parametres, connections).
5.Active components of CATV (a) - amplifiers (types, parameters, connections).
6.Active components of CATV (b) - dynamic range of one amplifier, cascade of amplifiers, optimum gain and number of amplifiers in the cascade.
7.Conception of distributive networks - individual, small, middle and large CATV.
8.Broad-band distributive networks for CATV - examples, parameters.
9.Energetic balance of CATV (a) - design of the individual, small and middle CATV.
10.Energetic balance of CATV (b) - design of the
large distributive network CATV.
11.Application of the optical fibre-cablein CATV.
12.System MMDS and MVDS for the TV and radio signals distribution.
