Materials and Components for Biomedicine

FEKT-AMBMAcad. year: 2010/2011

The subject deals with special materials for biomedical practice, new electrochemical sources for special devices and facilities, e.g. cardiostimulators and defibrilators, the impact of the biological environment on corrossion and lifetime of used materials and compatibility of tissue implants, polymer materials in medicine used as implants or medicines with gradual release of active substance or with targeted release of medicine (e.g. targeted cytostatics). The subject also deals with hydrogels for contact lenses and other applications. Lectures on measurement of ions and their effects on human organism. The principle and use of NMR for diagnostics and analysis.
