Introduction to Clinical Medicine

The subject provides the students with introduction into clinical medicine in the scope giving an outline of the contents and principles of clinical work. The students are provided with understanding of the basic medical concepts, basic principles of patient examination as the necessary assumption for diagnosing of diseases. The basic nosological units will be presented divided according to individual systems including a brief outline of their symptoms and currently available treatment methods.

Knowledge of fundamental medical terminology, basic examination procedures and diagnosing of diseases, work at patient’s bedside

Prerequisites

Knowledge at secondary school level and of completed subjects in the study area.

Course curriculum

Basic medical concepts, patient examination, anamnesis, objective examination of the patient, basic laboratory and auxiliary examinations, an outline of the basic nosological units by individual systems with symptomatology, including a brief outline of therapeutic options

To provide the students with the basic information on the contents and problems of clinical medicine necessary for cooperation between experts in biomedical fields and clinics
