Course detail
Experimental Laboratory Methods
FAST-CJ03Acad. year: 2009/2010
The contents of the subject is a survey of common and special laboratory methods and of instrumentation techniques used in the silicate industry concentrated to the branches of ceramics, refractory and binding materials. The matter includes methods used in the technology of production, checking of raw materials from the point of view of their applicability in the technological process and the testing the properties of readymade products. The student deepens his knowledge in commonly performed laboratory tests and he becomes acquainted with special methods such as high pressure mercury porosimetry, X-ray diffraction, differential- thermal - analysis, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Attention is paid even to methods of the degradation determination of building materials.
