Technical Equipment Buildings

The subject follows up to the subject "Technical facitilies of buildings" by means of excursions to selected facilities, such as machine rooms of air-conditioning, boiler-rooms, exhibitions of bathroom equipment, fittings and fixtures, alternative power sources, etc. After excursion, the students work out their own design of one of the selected facilities. The objective is to make the students acquainted with the most advanced technical facilities of buildings,that can be used, in a creative way, in urban planning and architecture.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

After completing the subject, the student wil have a general idea of the significance, design and layout of technical facilities of buildings. The knowledge gained will be made use of in studio practice, in designing and developing the building's architectural interior.

Prerequisites

The student should know the basic functions of utility facilities, the principles of their design and potential lay-out. For their location, he or she should have basic knowledge of construction technology (building materials, structures of building, etc.)

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To be granted classified credit, the studend has to participate in excursions, work out a design of a selected facility, submit technical reports of the excursion, in required term, extent and quality. Final test makes a part of classification.

- excursion on before-wall insulator installation exploited in new also reconstructed objects

Aims

The aim is to make the students practically acquainted with technical facilities of buildings and with their functionning.The experience can be made use of, in a creative way, in urban planning and architecture.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at tutorials and seminars is monitored, in case of absence, the student is granted
a substitutive program or has to visit individually the selected facility. At the end of the semester, the students pass a final test.
