Waste Treatment and Recycling

This course is designed to help the students in the orientation in the
field of treatment the solid wastes, including paper, plastic, glass, food wastes, ash etc. Many types of wastes must be disposed, but some of them can be recycled.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students learn of methods of solid wastes processing and recycling. They will have a clear idea of the fundamentals of processes in the solid waste sites under hazardous conditions.

Prerequisites

Basic knowleges of chemistry and physics, formation and disposal of wastes.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Participation in seminars is registered. The course-unit credit is awarded bassed on the active participation in exercises and seminars. Examination has written or oral parts.

Aims

The methods of the disposal and possibilities of recycling
the wastes are introduced in the course.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Participation in seminars is registered. A written report from on the missed saminar is necessary to submit to the lecturer.

8.Lining against leak of hazardous materies.
9.Water balance of waste disposal sites and leacheat disposal
10.Landfill gas, condition and disposal.
11.Possibility of utilisation of waste gas.
12.Composting of organic solid wastes.
13.Rekultivation of waste disposal sites.
