Dynamics of Instruments

FSI-RDNAcad. year: 2007/2008

Importance of measuring, development of measuring methods and connected design of measuring instruments is huge. Requirements for precision and reliability of measuring devices are constantly rising and new requirements appear, mainly regarding size and weight minimization and/or resistance against influence of surrounding environment. Classical standard measuring instruments used various types of mechanisms. Today we deal mostly with measuring and control systems and with systems of automatic control. Those are the topics we will discuss during the course.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students obtain knowledge related to design and simulation modelling instruments in these fields:
- dynamic system theory
- classification of dynamic system behaviour
- mathematical models of components of model
- linear dynamic systems and their analysis
- nonlinear and stochastic systems

Prerequisites

Vector algebra. Matrix algebra. Mathematics in the range of previous study.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course is evaluated on the base of active participation in exercises and the result of semester project.

Course curriculum

Not applicable.

Work placements

Not applicable.

Aims

Students will be made familiar with the design of instruments. Classical approach is discussed as well as modern one, where computer control appears more important.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance is checked in exercises. Students are supposed to prepare semester project.
