English C1-1

FSI-0A9Acad. year: 2027/2028

The course develops advanced English language proficiency at C1 level through a communicative, practice-oriented approach. While strengthening vocabulary, refining grammatical accuracy and enhancing fluency, it goes beyond language development to equip participants with the confidence and skills to communicate effectively, independently and persuasively in personal, academic and professional contexts. A particular emphasis is placed on transferable soft skills that make communication truly impactful. Through collaborative activities and the preparation and delivery of a final talk on a topic of their choice, participants develop confident public speaking, critical thinking, informed decision-making and the ability to adapt their communication style and register to different audiences and situations.

Aims

The course aims to develop and consolidate students' advanced English language skills at C1 level, enabling them to communicate confidently, fluently and effectively in a wide range of personal, academic and professional contexts. Previously acquired grammatical knowledge and vocabulary are systematically reinforced and expanded through authentic communicative tasks and real-life situations. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • communicate independently, confidently and effectively in English at C1 entry level in personal, academic and professional settings;
  • express and develop complex ideas with fluency, precision and an appropriate range of vocabulary and grammatical structures;
  • structure and deliver engaging presentations, articulate and defend their viewpoints, and communicate persuasively to different audiences;
  • demonstrate critical thinking and informed decision-making through discussion;
  • adapt their communication style, register and language to suit different purposes, audiences and contexts;
  • apply their linguistic and communication skills in collaborative tasks and real-life situations.

The course also provides a foundation for further language development and can serve as preparation for internationally recognised English language proficiency examinations.
