English Upper-Intermediate 2

FAST-VYA011Acad. year: 2027/2028

Grammar: Gerunds and infinitives, past modals, verbs of the senses, passive voice, reporting verbs, clause of contrast and purpose, articles, uncountable and plural nouns, quantifiers.
Vocabulary: music and emotions, body parts, media, towns and cities, accommodation, my future house, science, studying abroad. The content of the course is aimed at students who would benefit from studying and practicing English at B1+ to B2 level (Upper-Intermediate level) with a native speaker, i.e. students who: wish to study abroad (e.g. with the Erasmus+ programme) or work abroad; want to prepare for the VYA013 B2 level language exam (useful for Erasmus+); already speak English at a good Intermediate level and would like to improve; already speak English at Upper Intermediate level and would like to practice their English so as not to forget what they learned in previous years.

This subject follows on from the subject VYA010 and from the level of the Cambridge PET exams, i.e. B1 (Intermediate) according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) for languages. It would be beneficial to have taken the VYA010 course before taking VYA011, but this is not a requirement.

Aims

Students will extend their language skills, vocabulary and grammar knowledge to the lower B2 (Upper Intermediate) level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) for languages established by the Council of Europe.
