Theory of heat transfer in building services. Thermal properties of materials, elementary heat processes. Vapour and conditions of vapour. Thermal processes, their dynamic, analytical and numerical solution. Heat transfer by natural and forced convection. Heat transfer by phase changes. Heat transfer by radiation. Principles of heat exchangers in building services. Special problems in heat transfer in building services.

Aims

Professional Knowledge

The student understands the principles of heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation, thermal properties of materials, thermal processes and heat transfer during phase changes. The student understands the basic principles of heat exchangers and their applications in building services.

Professional Skills

The student is able to solve typical heat transfer problems using analytical and numerical methods and apply the acquired knowledge to thermal processes in building services systems.

Professional Competence

The student is able to analyse basic heat transfer processes and apply appropriate methods for their solution in the design and assessment of building services systems.
