Entry knowledge
Prerequisites: Knowledge of physical laws in the field of heat transfer and materials and thermomechanics. Basic knowledge of numerical methods. Knowledge of heating, ventilation and cooling systems of buildings. Knowledge of indoor climate of buildings.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.
Aims
Professional Knowledge
The student understands the principles of numerical modelling of heat transfer, building energy performance and the energy behaviour of building services systems. The student understands the influence of boundary conditions, climate data, occupancy and control on simulation results.
Professional Skills
The student is able to create and evaluate numerical models of thermal processes, building energy performance and selected building services systems. The student is able to interpret the results of dynamic simulations and assess the thermal and energy performance of buildings and their systems.
Professional Competence
The student is able to independently use numerical modelling and simulation to analyse thermal and energy processes in buildings and building services systems.
