An English course for all students with lower than B1 level. The course aims at grammar practice and business vocabulary basics to make students ready for one of the follow-up courses in their respective branches of study.
If plagiarism or any unauthorized collaboration on assigments intended for individual work (weekly assignments, mid-term test, credit test, final presentation) is discovered, the student will not be given a grade with the possibility of disciplinary action.
Attendance is compulsory and is monitored.

Students will be awarded the credit upon collecting at least 50 points out of the total 100, as follows:
75% compulsory attendance in seminars - 5 points
Weekly e-learning assignments - max. 10 points
Optional mid-term test - max. 20 points
Final credit test - max. 65 points
Exam: Only students who have been awarded the credit are allowed to sit the exam.
The final exam takes the form of a written exam - listenig, reading comprehension, vocabulary check.The final mark is awarded based on the total number of collected points in line with the ECTS grading scale as follows: 100-90 (A), 89-80 (B), 79-70 (C), 69-60 (D), 59-50 (E), 49-0 (F).
Aims
Preparation for the compulsory course Professional English (Odborná angličtina), development of all language skills, consolidation and deepening of knowledge of grammatical structures, and increase in vocabulary with special emphasis on language needed at work, in particular academic and business English.
Students will acquire the basic terminology and language skills necessary for communication in various situations in business and management, especially regarding company organization, production process, trading, presentations and financial matters. They will be made familiar with terminology necessary for work and with professional academic materials.
