Presentation Skills in English

FEKT-XPA-PSEAcad. year: 2026/2027

This course aims to enhance the students’ presentation skills in the English language. The students learn how to structure their presentation, support their message with efficient visuals, and deliver it fluently and with confidence. Each class also includes short pronunciation and public speaking exercises.

Outline of the course:

1) types of presentations, types of visuals, features of good and bad presentations

2) presentation structure and signposting language, grammar typical of presentations

3) jumpstarting the presentation, finishing with a bang

4) displaying and discussing figures and charts; how to ask questions, how to give feedback

5-7) students’ presentations

8) team presentations: challenges, techniques, etiquette; persuasive strategies

9-10) team presentations

11) presenting online: challenges, techniques, etiquette

12-13) online presentations

Aims

The students will be able to

  • deliver a well-structured presentation confidently and fluently
  • use their voice and body language to support the message of their presentation
  • design efficient visuals
  • react to presentations by others.
