Russian for Beginners 2

Topics –– leisure time and hobbies (films, musical instruments, sports), daily routine, occupations, education, holidays and vacations

Grammar –– declension of nouns and pronouns, verb conjugation, verb forms, reflexive verbs, ordinal numbers, dates, past tense, names of countries, verbs of motion

Entry knowledge

Students should have a good command of the Russian Cyrillic alphabet, basic vocabulary, and the following grammar topics: forms of address, numerals, verb conjugation, basic noun declension patterns, personal and possessive pronouns, and reflexive verbs.

Students should be able to speak on the following topics: introductions, greetings, phone conversations, nationalities, visiting someone, and family. 

 

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The scope of supervised instruction and the method of its implementation are defined by an annually updated directive issued by the course guarantor. 

Aims

Mastery of the basics of Russian, including the Cyrillic alphabet in both written and spoken form, basic vocabulary, and grammar. The ability to read, translate, and produce simple texts. The student will meet the course objectives by mastering the fundamentals of Russian — that is, the written and spoken Cyrillic alphabet, basic vocabulary, and essential grammar structures — as well as by demonstrating the ability to read, translate, and create simple Russian texts.
