Assessment

To obtain credits and qualify for the final exam, students must meet the following conditions:

  1. Maintain a minimum 80% class attendance rate (students may skip no more than two lectures).
  2. Complete all required homework assignments.

For the final exam, students are required to prepare a 3–5 minute presentation on any topic covered during the course. The presentation should be consistent and coherent, and it must demonstrate the range of vocabulary acquired throughout the course. Students are also expected to create a PowerPoint presentation and are not permitted to read from their notes while delivering it.

Grading system:

A (90–100%) Excellent: fully developed, coherent, and engaging presentation. Wide range of course vocabulary used accurately and naturally. Fluent delivery with strong eye contact; no reading. PowerPoint is clear and well‑designed. Text is minimal, readable, and free of errors.

B (80–89%) Good: well‑structured and relevant, though minor gaps in depth or flow. Good vocabulary range with occasional minor inaccuracies. Generally fluent delivery with some hesitations; no reading. PowerPoint is clear with minor design issues.

C (70–79%) Satisfactory: adequate coverage but some points underdeveloped or disjointed. Adequate vocabulary with repetition or occasional errors. Delivery is hesitant; some reliance on notes. PowerPoint is acceptable but cluttered or contains errors.

D (60–69%) Below average: topic poorly focused or insufficiently covered. Limited vocabulary; frequent errors affect clarity. Hesitant delivery with heavy note‑reading. PowerPoint is poorly designed or difficult to follow.

F (< 60%) Failing: topic not covered or largely irrelevant. Vocabulary insufficient for the task. Delivery unintelligible or entirely note‑dependent. PowerPoint missing or completely ineffective.

Note on Plagiarism: All submitted work must be the result of the student’s own independent effort. AI-generated texts (e.g., produced by tools such as ChatGPT or similar systems) are not considered original student work and will not be accepted.

Completion for Students with Individual Study Plans*

  • Same requirements as above.
  • If personal attendance is not possible, an alternative assignment may be arranged with the instructor.

*An Individual Study Plan is subject to agreement between the student and the head of department and requires exceptional circumstances.

Completion Based on International Certificate

Instead of taking English for Business Communication 2 (AOP2), students may present one of the following internationally recognised certificates, completed within the last five years: CAE or CPE. Other certificates are not accepted.

Completion Based on an Exam at a Foreign University

A course completed within the Erasmus programme at a foreign university that corresponds in content and level to English for Business Communication 2 (AOP2), and includes a final exam may be recognised as equivalent.

Aims

The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with language skills used in professional communication (reading, listening, speaking, writing), and provide them with specific structures of business English.
The course is intended to deepen the student’s language skills necessary for professional communication using relevant vocabulary.
