Risk Management of Electrotechnical Devices

The course introduces principles and methods for managing risks associated with electrical equipment and related technical, information and cyber-physical systems. Students learn procedures for risk identification, analysis, evaluation and treatment and select appropriate qualitative, semi-quantitative and basic quantitative methods. The course links risk assessment with reliability, human and organisational factors, operational change, environmental impacts, emergency preparedness and continuity of critical functions. Emphasis is placed on interpreting results and justifying risk treatment measures.

Evaluation will be in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulation of BUT.

Aims

The aim of study is to acquire knowledge and skills application approaches and methods of risk engineering and risk management which are necessary for the assessment, detection of risk and proposing of safety measures for electrotechnical devices.
Student will be able to understand the terminology, procedures and methods of risk management. Student can apply by the appropriate manner the methods of risk analysis and to assess the threats associated with the operation and implementation of new electrotechnical devices into operation, also with proposal of appropriate safety measures.
