The course provides students with a comprehensive insight into the supply of drinking water for both the public and industry. The curriculum systematically addresses the entire chain of drinking water production and distribution, from the initial assessment of water demand and quality to its safe transport through the pipeline network to the final consumer. The course covers the processes of water abstraction from water sources and fundamental water treatment technologies, including pre-treatment, coagulation, separation, disinfection, as well as the associated chemical and sludge management. A significant portion of the syllabus is also dedicated to the design of water reservoirs, pumping stations, water supply networks, and service connections. Throughout their studies, students will familiarize themselves with relevant pipe materials, valves and fittings, the structural design of pipeline installation, and the methodology of conducting pressure tests. The final lecture provides a comprehensive overview of the structure and operation of water and wastewater utilities (VaK) in the Czech Republic.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Students are required to actively participate in the practical classes and submit all assignments on time, correctly completed, and in the prescribed format and level of detail, for which points are awarded by the instructor. To obtain course credit, it is necessary to achieve more than 50 percent of the points. A maximum of two absences in the practical classes is permitted. To successfully pass the examination and complete the course, students must pass a computer-based knowledge test and a subsequent oral examination.
