Building Back Better: Sustainable Rebuilding of Ukraine

The course focuses on an interdisciplinary workshop dedicated to the sustainable rebuilding of Ukraine after the war. Through teamwork and expert lectures, students are introduced to current challenges in urbanism, architecture, and cultural heritage within the context of post-war reconstruction. Emphasis is placed on environmental, social, and cultural aspects of recovery, as well as collaboration with international partners from academia and practice. The course is conducted as an intensive workshop with international participation.

Upon completing the course, the student will:

  • understand the fundamental principles of sustainable rebuilding of cities and regions affected by conflict,
  • be able to analyze urban and architectural challenges related to reconstruction,
  • work effectively in an international and interdisciplinary team,
  • develop presentation and communication skills in a professional context,
  • propose conceptual solutions that address ecological, cultural, and social aspects of recovery.
