Course detail
FSI-KKRAcad. year: 2026/2027
A prerequisite for the safe and economical design of process equipment is a high-quality static analysis of strain and stress in process equipment subjected to operating conditions. Students will learn to use basic computational methods. They will also become more familiar with legislation and its development from the past to the present state. Great attention is devoted to European standards for the design of unfired pressure vessels (ČSN EN 13445) and to the widely used standard in this field, ASME BPVC. In the practical exercises, students will perform strength calculations of equipment both manually and using computational software commonly employed for such purposes in practice. Furthermore, they will become acquainted with the fundamental principles of designing steel structures.
