Aims
Upon successfully completing the course, the student should be able to know and apply:
Basic principles of design. Design of basic concrete elements. Structural properties of concrete and concrete reinforcement, its interaction with concrete. Calculation assumptions for the behaviour of materials and structures. Durability of concrete structures. Design of reinforced concrete elements stressed by bending moment and shear force – ultimate limit states and serviceability limit states, design principles. Design of reinforced concrete elements stressed by a combination of axial force and bending moment. Design of elements made of plain and lightly reinforced concrete.
The education benefit will be the ability to design simple concrete elements – one-way slabs, beams, girders, lintels, cantilevers, columns and staircases, which are characterized by low material consumption.
