This course aims to improve language skills in speaking, listening, and reading in English at an intermediate (B1) level. Students will learn and practise the grammar and vocabulary needed to pass the BYA002 exam. 

Grammar: Present simple and continuous; Future forms; Present perfect; Comparatives and superlatives; Articles; Prepositions; Modal verbs; -ed/-ing adjectives; Past tenses; Passive; First conditional; Second conditional; Reported speech; Gerunds and infinitives
 
Vocabulary: Food; Family; Money; Transport; Sport; Cinema; Education; Houses; Shopping; Work

Entry knowledge

The entry level should be at least B1- according to the CEFR. Students are expected to have knowledge of general vocabulary and grammar at this level and to be able to communicate in everyday situations in English.

The scope of supervised instruction and the method of its implementation are defined by an annually updated directive issued by the course guarantor. 

Aims

The course VYA008 (English for Intermediate Students 1) is the first preparatory course for the BYA002 exam. It focuses on reviewing grammar and everyday vocabulary using a communicative approach, at level B1 according to the CEFR.
