Entry knowledge
Knowledge of basic physical quantities, theory (kinetic theory of gases, basic state equations of fluids) and physical laws in the field of heat and substance transfer. Basic knowledge of integral and differential calculus.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.
Aims
Professional Knowledge: The student understands the fundamental laws of thermodynamics, the theoretical principles of heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation, phase changes), and the governing equations of hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, and aerodynamics.
Professional Skills: The student can analytically calculate heat transfer rates, size heat exchangers, and determine pressure drops, flow velocity fields, and hydraulic parameters in piping systems.
Professional Competences: The student is qualified to independently apply thermomechanical and fluid dynamics engineering calculations to design, evaluate, and optimize thermal and hydraulic systems in engineering practice.
