Types of geomaterials and their properties.
Factors affecting the properties of geomaterials.
Stiffness of soils (stiffness in range of small and very small strain, soil stiffness measurements in the laboratory).
Strength of soils (theory of critical states).
Material models for soils (elasticity, perfect plasticity and plasticity with hardening).

Aims
Student will master the course objective and will know how to safely and economically design foundations of structures at different geotechnical conditions. Student will have basic knowledge about specific geotechnical problems and with basic rocky properties, rock classification and with underground urbanization.
