Aims

  • Účelem předmětu je vytvoření základní jednotné úrovně znalostí a dovedností pro efektivní užívání osobních počítačů. Studenti si rozšíří dovednosti uživatelského ovládání operačního systému a jeho základní správy, získají znalosti z oblasti internetových technologií a zejména pak o bezpečnostních mechanismech s tím souvisejících.
  • Kromě přehledové části, věnované technickým řešením v oboru, jsou studenti seznámeni a po absolvování předmětu způsobilí nejen využívat tabulkové procesory a další moderní programové vybavení k inženýrským výpočtům, ale seznámí se i se základními pravidly počítačové typografie, získají znalosti o principech počítačové grafiky a zpracování obrazu, které jsou využitelné při tvorbě technické dokumentace apod.

Syllabus

  • 1. Computer lab use policy, FCE computer network, BUT mail, cloud services, computer network security, BUT information system.
  • 2. Rudiments of spreadsheets: cell addressing, entering names, copying, formatting, built-in Excel functions, formulas.
  • 3. Conditional formatting, data validation, data import (measurement data import).
  • 4. Graphic output.
  • 5. Advanced computations in engineering science using spreadsheets.
  • 6. Database applications (sorting, pivot tables, filtering).
  • 7. Analytical tools: goal seek, solver.
  • 8.–9. Basics of computer typography: text processing, document structure, styles, headings, references, footnotes, content.
  • 10. Typesetting of technical documents. Formulas, tables, pictures.
  • 11.–12. Basics of computer graphics: Image/photo processing using text processor and raster editor, image parameters for typesetting.
  • 13. Final test, final work (document) evaluation.
