The course aims to help students to develop their architectural terminology in English and their presentation skills that they need for presenting their architectural design in an international studio.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Evaluation includes the assessment of written assignments and oral presentations of students´ own projects in English.

Evaluation is based on students´ ability to use suitable professional English and understandability of oral presentation.

To complete this course successfully, students must participate in 80 % of lessons at minimum, submit the written assignments, and present their architectural project in English. The absences may be compensated by submitting a written assignment upon the agreement with the teacher.

Aims

The aim of the course is for students to gain knowledge of professional English terminology that is useful for working in an international architectural studio. During the lessons, students will develop part of their project documentation in professional English and will develop their presentation skills to present their own architectural project in English.

  • Students will acquire the basic English terminology for collaboration in international architectural studios.
  • Students will know the contemporary English terminology for describing basic types of buildings and their surroundings.
  • Students will be able to present their architectural project in spoken English and to react to general questions regarding their project.
  • Students will be able to develop part of the project documentation in professional English.
