Course detail
FSI-LMZAcad. year: 2024/2025
The course is designed to introduce students to the basic properties of materials such as their structure and its resulting effect on the limits of use of the materials such as internal stress, deformation, chemical and radiation resistance, etc. In the field of power equipment, especially nuclear power plants, high demands are placed on the use of materials, especially for primary circuits and their individual components. This course provides an introduction to the basic mechanics for piping systems, turbines, heat exchangers and reactors and the resulting required properties of selected materials.

Basics of mathematics, chemistry and physics.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The exam is written in the form of answers to selected questions, in the case of the threshold number of points obtained, an oral retest will take place.
Aims
The course enables students to gain knowledge of the materials used for current and advanced energy applications, especially for the construction of structural units of nuclear power plants. The aim is to introduce the basic description of materials and their use for the main structural parts of power plants. The aim is to give an insight into the limits of individual materials in the construction and operation of power plant components and their parameters (effect of temperature, pressure, wear, etc.).
