Digital Imaging

The subject's aim is to gain new knowledge in the field of computer graphics. The students improve their knowledge of modern hardware and software. Emphasis is put on modern data formats suitable for storing architectural presentations (Rich Media etc.). The students are made acquainted in detail with computerised colour processing and with the significance of the technologies of colour management.

Examination - working out a seminar paper, its defence in front of the lecturer and fellow students.

Modern CAAD systems, overview of used systems, merits, drawbacks, use
Composition and concept in designing 3D scene
NURBS modelling, theory, examples of implementation, overview of use in CAD, conversion to other representations
Procedural modelling
Fractal geometry, basics of theory, examples of use in modelling architectural objects
Colour in computer. CMS colour management. Digital photography
Light in architecture - light's influence on architectural space, requirements put on lighting and insolation, computer aids for work with light in architecture, comparison, examples
Physical and virtual building
Radiosity, scene's composition, method and its use in architecture, examples
Raytrace, scene's composition, method and its use in architecture, examples
Presentation of architectural design works on the Internet - possibilities, 2D and 3D technologies, data formats, overview, presentation of architectural studios, evaluation, recommendations.
