Game Engines

FaVU-GENAcad. year: 2023/2024

The course focuses on the demonstration of practical use and mutual confrontation of selected software tools designed for the creation of digital games, i.e. Unity, Unreal, and Godot. The interface and layout of individual engines, along with their possibilities and limits will be introduced through simple demonstrations and exercises.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Credit is awarded on the basis of active participation in teaching, completion of partial tasks and submission of the final task: the creation of one scene in all three selected game engines.
Attendance compulsory.

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide students with basic orientation and skills in game engines Unity, Unreal, and Godot.
Students will learn to create a new scene in three different engines, using basic assets and software options to achieve the same results. Students will gain a basic orientation in the environment of selected software and will be able to more easily decide which of them will be better for further creative practice.

Teaching will have a form of thematic workshops – three blocs with identical structure:
1. Unity: introduction (software layout), work with assets, scene creation, scene test (import, export, comment on licenses)
