Students are made familiar with the details of the roots of jazz music, traditional jazz, the swing era, the post-war movements (bebop, cool jazz, etc.), fusions with rock, ethnic music, etc. and with the details of profiles of the greatest personalities in jazz music and with the development of Czechoslovak jazz from the thirties to the present.

18.-19. Personalities of the bebop era, cool jazz, etc.: Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Young, Dave Brubeck,
20.-21. Personalities of the jazz-rock era and fusions: Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and more,
22. The origins of the development of Czechoslovak Jazz: R. A. Dvorský, Jan Rychlík,
23. Czechoslovak post-war Big Band era: Karel Vlach, Karel Krautgartner,
24. The Gustav Brom Big Band and its main personalities: Jaromír Hnilička, Mojmír Bártek etc.,
