Project Management

FP-prPAcad. year: 2022/2023

The course focuses on the theoretical definition of the basic principles, methods and tools of project management. The theoretical definition of the course is based on the international methodologies PRINCE2, PMI and IPMA and uses current trends in project management. The acquired knowledge and skills will be applicable in business and project management at lower and middle management level. Emphasis will be placed on funding opportunities through grant programs.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

After completing the course, students will acquire basic theoretical knowledge and skills in the field of project management applicable to the performance of economic and managerial functions at lower and middle levels of business management.

Prerequisites

Students should have knowledge of corporate management, specifically in the field of team management and management, communication and motivation.

Students will receive credit for completing a collaborative semester project as assigned by the instructor in the first practicum.

The examination is written. It is divided into two parts: a test part, where the student has 4 answer choices, and an open-ended part, where the student answers a question.

Course curriculum

1. Introduction to project management (definition of project management, successful project management of project management advantages, problematic aspects of project management.
2. International Standards and Methodology of Project Management (IPMA, PMI, PRINCE2) and their comparison.
3. Definitions of basic concepts (project, project definition, three-dimensional, definition based on 5 attributes, difference between project and routine).
4.The elements of the project strategy, the life stage of the project (pre-project, project and post-project).
5. Specification of the project objective, feasibility study and opportunity study.
6. Project success criteria (soft and hard criteria of the project), stakeholders (primary and secondary stakeholders, stakeholder management).
7. Method of the logical framework (principle, benefits, definition of intent, objectives, controllable outputs, key activities, objectively verifiable indicators, verification method and assumptions).
8. Project manager (characteristics, skills, competencies and responsibility in the project).
9. Team work in the project (basic characteristics of the project team, team role in the project, life stage of the project team).
10. Project phase (project start, project planning, implementation and project termination).
11. Planning in a project (WBS method, time analysis, resource analysis and budgeting).
12. Project risk management (risk definition, quantitative risk analysis, qualitative risk analysis, RIPRAN method)
13.Project phase (evaluation of project, evaluation of project benefits)

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic principles, methods and tools of project management using international methodologies PRINCE2, PMI and IPMA.
