Professional ICT seminar

The aim of this course is to improve the efectivity of work with English scientific texts and to improve presentation techniques. The students will acquire the theorethical knowledge on techniques of efective reading and shall improve their reading comprehension. They will practice reading on the material of specialized and general technical texts in English. They will improve their presentation skills and techniques.

A student knows basic characteristics of the language of science and technology and terminology
understands different types of texts on science and technology, specifically information related to IT, communication technologies and economics
is able to analyze and reproduce information from techical texts, discuss technical phenomena and problems presented and express one´s own opinions on the topics

A seminar includes a discussion on the topics presented, individual work, group work, individual preparation.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
75% attendance, active participation at classes and fulfilment of given assignments is required.
Completion of the course for students with individual study plan:
Credit: a written test or composition based on the topics studied in seminars.
Completion of the course in distance form (applied only when objective external circumstances do not allow the implementation of the study programme in accordance with the granted accreditation)

to improve students´ reading skills and comprehension
to understand different types of specialized and general technical texts in English
