Course curriculum

1. Therapeutic use of ultrasound - ultrasound physics, mechanical and thermal effects of ultrasound, micromassage, ultrasound surgery, ESWL and PEK, ultrasound hyperthermia, ultrasonic osteosynthesis, ultrasound distribution of drugs. Cavitation, aerosology.
2. Diathermy and hyperthermia - energy transmission by electromagnetic wave, Poynting vector, thermal movement of molecules, spasm release, destructive heating of tumors, structural aspects of diathermy and hyperthermia, radiometry.
3. Lasers in medicine - laser properties (coherence, monochromaticity, directivity, focussing), therapeutic effect of light interaction with tissues, photodynamic therapy, stimulation, analgesic effect, lasers in ophthalmology, photodistrup, Oshir's apple, Structural aspects of lasers.
4. Ionizing Radiation and Radiotherapy - Physics and interaction of ionizing radiation with the substance, radiation sources. Interaction with tissues, tissue radisensives. Curative and palliative treatment. Types of radiotherapy and structural aspects.
5. Interventional cardiology, artificial valves - CARTO, artificial flaps, artificial heart.
6. Failure of heart failure, blood pump - intra-aortic and extra-aortic balloon contra-pulsation, intravascular blood mini-pump, percutaneous ventricular cardiac support, EMCO, extracorporeal blood circulation.
7. Renal support, hemodialysis and haemofiltration - physical mechanisms of blood filtration, hemodialysis, hemofiltration, plasmaferase, filter construction and quantification of their effectiveness.
8. Ventilation systems and lung support - artificial lung ventilation, oxygen therapy, masks and intubation.
9. Replacement of sensory organs, orthoses and prostheses - auditory prostheses, cochlear implants, voice prostheses. Mechanical replacements, orthoses and prostheses.
10. High-frequency surgery, robotic surgery - high-frequency electric current physics, electro-scalpel technical solution, types of currents. Surgical, guidance and assistive robot.
11. Endoscopic technique in therapy - endoscopic mirrors, tubus endoscopes, fibroscopes, videoendoscopes, confocal endoscopy, endoscopy capsules, virtual endoscopy.
12. Biochemical analyzers - biochemical processes, metabolism, biochemical analyzers, immunoturbidimetry, chemoluminescence, fluorescence polarization immunoassay, ion selective electrodes, Westgard rules.
13. Load Examinations - Assessment of Physical Performance, Form of Load, Holters.
