Computer Systems for Projects

Properties of systems for designing of electrotechnical schemes in relation to creation of printed circuit boards (ORCAD, PADS). Description of the screen in graphic mode. Drawing and editing commands, commands of screen operation. Work with libraries of parts and their editing. Adaptation of user´s adjustment, raster work. Electronic checking of the scheme. Interconnection to systems for creation of printed circuit boards (DPS), interconnection to simulation systems (PSPICE), export of schemes and libraries, description of output files, conversion to other formats. Basic editing and drawing commands of the system for design of printed circuit boards. Description and creation of output files for production of DPS.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student is able to:
- Use of advanced tools for working with the scheme, the hierarchical structure of the design and management of properties of components in the design of electrical schematics
- Utilize and manage database systems components for schema design
- Use the OrCAD PSpice simulation environment for easy simulation of electrical circuits
- Create the printed circuit boards (PCB) in OrCAD PCB Editor and PADS Layout using manual, interactive and automatic tools including a detailed set of tools
- Describe the properties of objects for building materials for the production of PCB including drilling plans and programs use environment OrCAD PCB Editor, PADS Layout and a dedicated tool for creating output BluePrint documentation PCB

Prerequisites

The student is able to:
- Use Software systems Pads and OrCad for schema design and printed circuit boards
- Use design rules when designing schema

Techning methods include lectures and computer laboratories practical laboratories. Course is taking advantage of e-learning (Moodle) system.

1. Orcad – Basic elements of Capture design, creating new design
2. Component information system (CIS) – Using the CIS interface, Creating bill of materials variants and reports
3. Generating netlists, connection with PSpice
4. Pspice - Preparing a design for simulation, simulation setup
5. OrCAD PCB Editor design flow, desiegn editing modes
6. Advanced settings OrCAD PCB Editor, interactive ana automatic tools
7. OrCAD PCB Editor - Preparing Manufacturing Data
8. Pads Logic editor of schemes, environment, principles of drawing the diagram
9. Editor schemes Pads Logic editing possibilities, creating netlist
10. Pads Layout, Introduction, the environment, the process of board design, fabrication outline plates, stretching netlist
11. Pads Layout, layout of components, drawing connections, board design without a netlist, the design, import and export of changes from pads logic, outputs, dictionary for pcb
12. PADS Router, environment, links between router and DPS design, bases the use of router, examples of manual routing, routing types of wheels, set the routing options Autorouter
13. Technological outputs, creation of filling the drawing, soldering masks, masks for application of adhesive paste. Gerber 274X format data, display options Gerber data. Linking with other programs, PADS CAM BluePrint, CAM350, questions and answers

Aims

To teach students to work at the user´s level with the systems for drawing electrotechnical schemes with using database systems and advanced interactive and automatic tools.
