Fundamentals of Instrumentation

Existing and new combination techniques and techniques of play, focusing on orchestral instruments (especially brass and percussion), briefly non-orchestral, historical and ethnic instruments. Study of chamber and orchestral music, practical instrumental studies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
- Lectures consist of an explanation of basic principles supplemented with samples of scores and audio samples.
- Exercises support practical acquiring of themes presented at lectures in form of practical work with active participation of students.
Participation at lectures is recommended. Participation at other ways of instruction is checked.

2. Brass instruments: tone production, articulation, breathing and endurance options for phrases.
3. Brass instruments: dynamic possibilities, vibrato, flageolet.
4. Brass instruments: special playing techniques, interpretation of micro-intervals, etc.

7. Percussions: a basic introduction.
8. Percussions: tone production (types of drumsticks, etc.) articulation.
