Studio Follow-up I - Intermedia - winter

The subject focuses on individual long-term student projects and the realization of artistic research that will result in a master's thesis. Students are expected to be able to work independently and continuously on the chosen Master's project. During the consultations, the students of the master's program come up with current topics and problems for discussion that can help them in the development of the project. In the studio, they work, among other things, as consultants for the work of students in lower grades.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

In the winter semester of the first year of the master's degree, students will learn to independently develop the questions of the master's project on a theoretical and practical level. At a professional level, he critically reflects on his own work and gains pedagogical experience from consultations with bachelor's degree students. 

Prerequisites

Separate approach to work. Self-study of selected literature. Activity at studio meetings. Ongoing fulfillment of the Master's project implementation plan. Communication with studio managers.

Activity at studio meetings, independent work in the studio, presentation of own work, lectures, consultations, debates, excursions, study of literature. 

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes


To be awarded credit, it is necessary to work on a master's project, which is continuously consulted (individually and in groups) during the semester. The development of the work is documented using work-in-progress, sketches or research. Mandatory number of continuous consultations: 3. 80% participation in studio meetings is mandatory. 

Course curriculum

1. Students consult the process of implementing the master's project

2. Joint work/discussion on the chosen semester topic (the topic is chosen as a group at the beginning of the semester) and participation in discussions with bachelor degree students

3. Final exam – defense of final work

Independent work in the studio is complemented by lectures, visits to exhibitions and other collective activities developing the group semester theme. An integral part is the study of literature and texts related to the topics addressed.

Aims

Independent work on the development of a master's project in a studio environment. Critical reflection of one's own work and the ability to verbalize one's own concepts. Orientation in current topics in the context of contemporary art and non-art fields. 

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences


Participation in studio meetings and activities, semester presentations of ongoing project implementation, communication with studio leaders.
