Design Manual

The course provides students with the understanding of the relationship between the building and the inner space, from the concept to the realisation detail. Students will learn to compose a simple design manual including the budget and specification of individual items. They will familiarize themselves with the specifics of design of atypic elements from wood, metal, laminate, stone etc. They will learn the criteria of selection of surface finishes, greenery, and accessories with regard to the appearance, operation characteristics, and price.
In the study programme “Architecture and Urban Design” the course is part of the technical courses.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
– Students will familiarize themselves with the principles of interior designing and realisation.
– Students will learn how to work with space, light and colour.
– Students will know how to work with materials, surfaces, furniture, and plants in the interior.
– Students will learn to cooperate with a graphic designer and designer.
– Students will acquire the skill of coordinating interior works, selection of contractors, and budgeting.

Course curriculum
I. Lectures on selected topics with possible participation of specialists from the practice and video projection
II. Development of a particular assignment - design of furniture, lighting etc.
III. Submission of the elaborated simple portfolio and final presentation

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
In the case of a student's apology and with approval of the subject guarantor, personal attendance may be substituted with online attendance in the classes.
