The second half of the lectures introduce the most important names of the contemporary architectural scene. Frampton’s critical regionalism is further elaborated so that even the small Czech scene is not perceived as monolithic, so that Czech scene would offer the widest range of views on how to design and build.

Aims

The course aims to place the contemporary Czech architects into the historical context. To show students how to perceive the contemporary Czech architecture in depth, and as a continuous development. To familiarize the students with the theory, and then to go on excursions to the field, to learn about the structures directly on-site. Also, to visit exhibitions and lectures given by the architects in question. The goal is to awaken students’ interest in buildings and in their creators, so that the students consequently start to search for the architects, try to contact them on their own, and eventually to start a cooperation.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
