Structural Engineering III

Study of structures that affect the function of the building in its underground and ground part. Waterproofing systems, fillings of openings, lightweight and traditional wall structures, traditional and large-span roof structures and partition walls. Structures which affect the quality of the interior, e.g. floor structures, lining, ceilings.. The aim is to gain knowledge enabling to design an optimum and theoretically justified formation of a structural detail.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: Conditions for obtaining the credit - submitting all prescribed papers in required quality, passing the credit test (test with choice of options, drawing and description of simple schemes, possibly short verbal answers to the question). ). Credit test will be held in one term with the possibility of 1 resit. The condition for passing the credit test is to reach at least 50% of the limit.
Course curriculum
2. Water and construction work. Waterproofing of substructure, pressure insulation, materials, details.
3. Roof construction - classification, requirements.
4. Flat roofs single and double skin. Structure of roof formation. Thermal insulation, thermal resistance, ventilation. Hydro isolation. Plumbing on flat roof.
5. Special roof solutions - service roofs, green, roof with reverse order of layers.
6. Filling construction of holes. Nomenclature, classification. Basic functions, physical properties. Windows, balcony doors, skylights, skylights, doors, gates, shop windows.
7. Lightweight building walls. Joints of prefabricated wall cladding in terms of outdoor climatic conditions. Thermal bridges.
8. Partition construction - classification and use, requirements for properties. Monolithic, masonry and prefabricated partitions. Special types of partitions.
9. Cladding of building structures - from wood, plasterboard, ceramic materials, glass, stone. Acoustic tiles.
10. Outdoor and indoor floors and tiles - requirements, functions, properties.
11. Outdoor and indoor floors and paving - materials for construction of floors and paving, composition of structures.
12. Ceilings - Classification and use. Types of soffits according to material and construction variants.
13. Surface treatment, classification, use. Gray masonry and exposed concrete. Plasters, paintings and coatings. Wallpapers. Wood protection.
